Our Mission

To create the opportunity for individuals to have life changing experiences, promoting personal growth and awareness of the natural world through outdoor, experiential environmental education programs. The Land for Learning Institute strives to empower participants to become educated, caring, and active stewards of their communities.

School Camps

Capture the spirit of the outdoors during our overnight camps. Activities include canoeing, team building, nature hikes, primitive skills, aquatic investigations, night hikes, owl prowls, and campfires.

Ed-Venture Field Trips

One day field trip opportunities for grades K-12 and college. Day program activities may focus on geology, natural and cultural history, forest ecology, aquatic ecology, wildlife observation, arts and music in nature, team building, or nature awareness. Field trips may take place all over souther Illinois including Cache River Wetlands, Giant City State Park, Ferne Clyffe State Park, and Little Grassy Lake.

Custom Expeditions

We will design a trip based on your goals and curriculum needs. Reef ecology in Belize: High School Biology Clubs; College field study trips; Youth groups.

Cache River Wetlands

EXPLORE the diversity of primordial swamps in Southern Illinois by canoeing or hiking. Water quality investigations help students understand the functions and values of wetlands, while canoeing among the cypress trees offers an up-close view of the beauty of this unique landscape.

Road Scholar

Road Scholar educational adventures are created by Elderhostel, Inc., the non-for-profit world leader in lifelong learning since 1975. Join us on the journey with a diverse offering of programs such as canoeing/kayaking, birding, and Intergenerational outdoor discovery camps.

Ozark Canoe Expeditions

Immerse yourself in the wilderness as we canoe and map along the spring-fed rivers of the Missouri Ozarks. Camping skills, intermediate canoeing techniques, fishing, snorkeling, geology, outdoor cooking are all experienced first-hand.
